Tory threat to city's only Park + Ride
Labour's David Lepper MP and Nancy Platts have challenged the Tory council to come clean about their plans for Park + Ride in Brighton.
Withdean's Park + Ride is threatened with a Tory cut
This follows an announcement that the council is planning to axe the bus service from the Withdean park and ride site.
They also reminded the public that last May in the Argus, they challenged the Tory Leader Mary Mears to name the "several small sites….perhaps nearer to the city" which she had said were part of a Tory plan for park and ride.
Now nearly 8 months later she still won't reveal where these sites are, says Nancy.
"For years in other cities park and ride has proved an environmentally friendly and popular alternative to driving into city centres and has helped local economies - but it doesn't work without a dedicated bus service.
"Do the Tories really have any proper plan? And why won't they name their secret sites?"
