Key Labour figures in Brighton joined Friends Of The Earth and the World Development Movement members at a demonstration on Climate Change.

Labour's Simon Burgess, Celia Barlow MP, Des Turner MP and Labour leader on the city council Gill Mitchell.
On Saturday 5 April, local MPs Celia Barlow and Des Turner joined over 100 campaigners in Pavilion Gardens, Brighton to call on Prime Minister Gordon Brown to toughen the Climate Change Bill currently going through Parliament. The demonstrators called for the Bill to cover all sources of carbon dioxide emissions.
Scientist Des Turner said "This groundbreaking Bill is very welcome but I want to see aviation emissions included in carbon emission reduction targets." Celia Barlow added: “'We have had a really good turnout today, and it's very pleasing to see how many people care about Climate Change. I've had more than 700 letters from my constituents since Christmas on the subject, which shows tremendous commitment from the people of Brighton to seeing a tougher Climate Change Bill adopted.”
