Final push for National Park

Labour campaigners joined best selling author Bill Bryson outside the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to deliver postcards supporting the largest possible South Downs National Park.

David Lepper MP, Simon Burgess and respected author Bill Bryson.

David Lepper MP was joined in London by Simon Burgess (Kemptown and Peacehaven) and Nancy Platts (Brighton Pavilion).

Simon said: "The announcement of a new national park is expected soon. I have campaigned for its formation for many years and I am hopeful that the Western Weald will be included, as I hope Ditchling, Lewes and the Chalk Hills will. Bill Bryson is one of my favourite authors so it was particularly pleasing to meet him and to be able to thank him for all he has been doing to back the campaign.

Bill Bryson has supported the South Downs bid as Chair of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England.
