MPs call for a rethink on train fares

David Lepper, Labour and Co-operative MP for Brighton Pavilion, is one of 59 MPs who stood up for train passengers in an event in the House of Commons by recognising their number one concern, according to a report by Passenger Focus.

MPs of all parties joined together to call for a review of rail fares. A review would look at bringing down the cost to make it easier for people to take the train instead of driving or flying.

Cat Hobbs, public transport campaigner at Campaign for Better Transport, said: "More and more MPs are saying that fares cannot keep rising above inflation. Politicians realise that expensive train tickets make it difficult for people."
