Local businesses behind the AIDS memorial

The St. James's Area Businesses Group is showing how its members can pull together for a good cause by selling environmentally friendly cotton bags in aid of the AIDS memorial in New Steine Gardens.

The bags are on sale for £1.50 with the bags production costs being £1 with 50p going to the memorial.

Simon Burgess, who chairs the St. James's Area Action Group and is a memorial trustee, said; "the fact that the shops selling them are taking no profit but just raising money for the memorial shows how in tune the businesses are with the local community. Businesses in the St. James's Area face a tough time in the new year with three months of roadworks for gas mains replacement - I hope residents and visitors will continue to support businesses during that difficult time as businesses support the local community."
